August 8 is National Pickleball Day, and if you live in or near Lake Oswego, you’ve got good options to celebrate the fastest-growing sport in America. Whether you’re picking up a paddle for the first time or you’re already deep into league play, here’s your local guide to where to get on a court this month.

LORAC (Lake Oswego Recreation & Aquatics Center)

Start close to home. LORAC’s 7,250-square-foot gymnasium, offers three dedicated indoor courts as part of a multi-sport space that also hosts basketball and volleyball. Open play runs on a rotation system with assigned skill levels, so it stays friendly and non-competitive no matter where you’re at in your game.

• Check the LORAC gym schedule for open play hours before you head over, since times shift around other gym programming
• Lake Oswego Parks and Recreation-led classes cover everything from Pickleball Basics to Pickleball Pro
• Court access is included with a LORAC membership, or you can drop in for a daily fee
• Spots are first-come first-served during open play – check out how it works

Joining the local LORAC Pickleball group on the TeamReach app is a good way to stay looped in on schedule changes and find people to play with.

Mountain Park Racquet & Fitness Club

A few minutes away, Mountain Park is the more established option for LO players who want a serious pickleball setup. The club underwent a major renovation that added dedicated pickleball courts alongside its longtime tennis program, and it now offers 10 total courts — 6 indoor, 4 outdoor, with several lit for evening play.

Good to know:

• Membership is required to play, and you’ll need to bring your own net
• A pickleball pro is on staff for lessons, clinics, and open play sessions
• Located at 3 Botticelli St, Lake Oswego — easy to reach from most parts of town
• The club is partnered with West Hills Racquet and Fitness Club so it’s a two-for-one deal, opening up even more pickleball and fitness opportunities for you; although West Hills is located about 20 minutes away from Lake Oswego

If you’re looking for a club environment with year-round indoor access and a built-in pickleball community, this is the spot.

Pickleball Kingdom Tigard

For a bigger night out, head to Tigard. Pickleball Kingdom opened its Tigard location in a converted 42,000-square-foot former retail space, and it’s genuinely one of the largest dedicated indoor pickleball facilities in the Portland area — 13 individually fenced courts with outdoor-style playing surfaces, premium lighting, and video technology on every court.

• Address: 16800 SW 72nd Ave, Tigard, OR 97224
• Hours: Monday–Friday 6:00 AM–11:00 PM, Saturday–Sunday 7:00 AM–9:00 PM
• Beyond open play, the facility hosts leagues, tournaments, clinics, and youth programs, plus a pro shop and two event spaces for parties or corporate gatherings
• A mezzanine viewing area makes it easy to bring along non-playing friends or family

It’s about a 10 to 15-minute drive from downtown Lake Oswego, and worth it if you want the full-scale club experience with the most court variety in one building.

RECS (Tualatin location)

RECS is Portland’s homegrown indoor pickleball community with two locations. The Tualatin club is the closer of the two for Lake Oswego players, offering a full slate of open play, leagues, and lessons in a space built around a “hang out and stay awhile” social vibe.

• RECS Tualatin: 8380 SW Nyberg St, Tualatin, OR
• The original, larger RECS location is in Clackamas at 17015 SE 82nd Dr, with 9 indoor courts
• Both locations offer memberships plus a non-member visitor punch card, so you don’t have to commit to try it out
• Expect round robins, clinics, private lessons, and themed events like black-light “glow” pickleball
• On-site food and drink, including grab-and-go options and beer on draft at the Clackamas club

THE BAY CLUB AND STAFFORD HILLS CLUB

Both these premier fitness clubs offer pickleball opportunities and are within a 10-15 minute drive from downtown Lake Oswego. Club membership is required to play. Check online for more information.
